Harlan Mathieu has been collecting and retelling stories for as long as he can remember. After training as a visual artist in Iowa, he left the Midwest and relocated to New York City, where he has been exhibiting his artwork, and teaching visual art since the 1980’s.

Most recently he has focused much of his energy in the written word, and spent much of the last decade creating the children’s fantasy series Jardis Tarque Saves the World.
